I’m excited to share a special little treat with you today. My good friend Cynthia Surrisi’s debut middle grade novel The Maypop Kidnapping will be hitting the shelves on March 1st.
Why is this important to me? Not only is the book a complete joy to read, it also takes place in Maine. Additionally, I had the honor of giving Cynthia feedback on early drafts. But none of these are why I got a special advance copy of the book this week. Nope, the fun little secret about this book is …
I drew the map in the front of the book!
It’s always been a dream of mine to illustrate a book map and now it’s come true! I had a great time drawing all the quaint Maine homes that are a part of this awesome story. I hope you have a chance to pick up the book when it comes out in March. Or … pre-order the book today! You won’t be disappointed by this charming maypop mystery.
Congratulations to Cynthia and to you, Ingrid. Who doesn’t love a mystery set in Maine. . . 🙂
Right!?
A published author and a published cartographer. So cool! BTW, didn’t know until you posted the Ellsworth article that you were an MDI/Maine girl. I’ll always be from away but I’ve lived here over 20 years. 🙂
Anna, I did know you’d lived in Maine. I thought we bonded over this at one point. I guess not. LOL! 🙂 Maine rocks!
Thanks soooo much Ingrid for this very special post!!!
Of course! I’m super excited for you!
Cynthia is a friend and a very special friend to my grandson Will. He loves The Maypop Kidnapping. Eleven year old Will chooses what he reads with much care and has given Cynthia’s book his seal of approval. I agree!! Hurray, Cynthia.
Hurray, Cynthia!
Ingrid, you are protean!
