I’ve Moved to Utah!

I’ve been a little quiet on the blog … and that’s because life is taking me on its next big adventure.

My husband and I have moved!

We bought a house!

I’ve lived in Southern California for the past fourteen years (and I’ve known my husband for thirteen of them). I’ve loved my time in the golden state. I’ll always associate Southern California as the creative ground where I learned how to write. I moved to Orange County as a novice writer with dreams of becoming a screenwriter. I attended film school and creative writing school and got two MFA’s. I met and befriended amazing screenwriters and novelists. I worked on film sets. And eventually I found my calling as a YA author and published my first novel!

It’s been an amazing journey.

But I can’t deny that deep down I’ve always been a small town girl at heart. I grew up on an island in Maine. That island is made up of four smaller towns and collectively the population is under 5000 people. So, it’s no surprise that the hustle of Los Angeles and its million+ people … isn’t exactly the place I call home. I’m incredibly thankful for all the incredible experiences I’ve had in California, but I’m suuuuuuuper excited to be moving to Southern Utah. My heart flutters at the idea of a quieter life surrounded by the majestic beauty of Zion National Park.

It’s important to make space in your life … for writing and for peace of mind. Life is full of so much noise and clutter and I’m grateful for this opportunity to re-set, re-focus, and re-new.

Change is good. Change is what helps you grow. So, with clear eyes and a full heart I say … Hello, Utah!

I originally hail from Utah and have lived in NYC for over 20 years. You’ve moved to a beautiful place. I sometimes think of moving back for that quieter and spacious way of life. Enjoy!

Congratulations, Ingrid. That area is one of my favorite places on Earth. The dark sky full of stars has always called to me, and, as a photographer, well….it’s f..ing gorgeous!
